Band Aid’s 2024 Christmas version has been announced – and it’s got a great nostalgic twist for fans who loved the 1980s original.
In 1984, Band Aid a charity supergroup featuring a variety of British artists founded by Bob Geldof and Midge Ure was formed to raise money for famine in Ethiopia.
The original band was recorded by artists including Sting, Boy George, George Michael, Bananarama, Bono, Kylie Minogue, and Cliff Richard.
The song was a huge hit and influenced new renditions in 2004 and 2014 in celebration of the 20th and 30th anniversary.
It has now been announced that a 2024 version will be released to celebrate the 40th anniversary and in a fun twist will comprise only of artists who featured on the first three songs.
The 2024 video will also feature the late David Bowie who will introduce the song’s stars, and newsreader Michael Buerk’s BBC report on the song also features.
