Jake Paul showed off his eye-catching rooster haircut ahead of his fight against Mike Tyson.
The 27-year-old has had just 11 professional fights, winning all of them apart from a split-decision defeat to Tommy Fury in Saudi Arabia last year, but faces his toughest test yet against Iron Mike.
Tyson, who turned 58 in June, has not fought professionally since losing to Kevin McBride in June 2005 but looked sharp during an open workout session with his trainer, Rafael Cordeiro, in Dallas on Tuesday evening.
Paul, meanwhile, was also smashing the pads during his session on Tuesday but his boxing skills were not the only talking point from the workout as he arrived for his session with bright red hair and a rooster perched just above his forehead.
Paul, who was born in Cleveland, Ohio but currently lives in Puerto Rico, revealed after the session that his haircut was a tribute to his nickname change from ‘The Problem Child’ to ‘El Gallo’, which means ‘the rooster’ in Spanish.
‘Where people love me and where people have given me this amazing nickname, ‘El Gallo,’ which is why I got rooster hair on tonight. I love the island. It’s just such good people,’ Paul said.
‘We’re all very similar – off-roading, drinking beers, going fast, and [expletive] people up in the ring. I love Puerto Rico.’
Paul added: ‘Friday, my dreams come true and my career starts.
‘This is the start of an amazing journey. What I’ve done so far doesn’t matter. Friday night my career starts.
‘I promise you, I was built for this, destined for this. The gods got me. The universe got me and I, Jake Joseph Paul, will knock out Mike Tyson. Friday November 15, it is written in the history books.’
Paul’s fight against Tyson will take place on Friday, November 15 at the 80,000 capacity AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
The card will start at 7pm local time on Friday 15 November – 1am UK time on Saturday morning – but Tyson and Paul are not expected to make their ring walks until around 10pm local time (4am UK time).
The fight will be streamed live on Netflix and will be available to all current subscribers as part of their package.
