A Maryland woman died this week after being thrown from a golf cart near a private club in Annapolis.

Mary Blasetti, 32, sustained “life-threatening injuries in an incident involving an E-Z-GO golf cart” last Saturday around 7:24 p.m., the Anne Arundel County Police Department said on Wednesday.

She was ejected from the cart after it hit a dip in the roadway near a members-only golf course. Another 32-year-old woman, who was driving the golf cart, was uninjured in the incident. Her identity was not released.

“Mrs. Blasetti was airlifted to the University of Maryland R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center and passed away on November 11, 2024,” police said. “The Traffic Safety Section is actively investigating the collision.”

Anne Arundel County Police Department spokesperson Justin Mulcahy said the incident appeared to be an accident but an investigation was ongoing.

“This is an extremely tragic, unfortunate situation,” Mulcahy told WJZ. “Our hearts go out to everyone impacted and we’re going to continue investigating it with the State’s Attorney’s Office just to determine what exactly happened here.”
