The PS5 Pro has seen its first significant price reduction since it was launched just last week. This is a surprising move, but it’s perfect for gamers already itching to get a decent discount.

Argos is the first retailer to reduce the price by this amount, so we might see other retailers follow suit in an attempt to match prices. Amazon, Very and Sony themselves have yet to make this move, but we’ll keep you updated if they do.

Argos is offering the PS5 pro console, for £659.99, which is £40 less than its RRP of ££699.99. It also offers the option to spread the cost so you don’t have to pay it all at once.

You can pick up the gadget from hundreds of stores across the UK or directly from Argos but be quick before it sells out, the Express reports.

The PS5 Pro is the latest and most advanced PlayStation, with superior graphical capabilities that push framerates and resolution far beyond the base model.

From now on, games must support the Pro, and several major titles have received Pro patches this week to utilise the console’s additional power.

Capcom’s Resident Evil 4 now supports 100fps, a significant increase from 60fps on the standard PS5, while Sony’s zombie hits The Last Of Us Part I and 2, superhero blockbuster SpiderMan 2 and various other titles from Horizon Zero Dawn to Ratchet and Clank and Gran Turismo 7 are all receiving new enhancements.

Moreover, several PSVR2 games are set for enhancements, including No Man’s Sky and Kayak VR. With a hefty price tag of £699, it might deter many gamers, which is why we’re spotlighting this deal.

Alternatively, if you’re looking for a more affordable option, the standard PS5 digital edition console is available from EE for less than £400, acknowledging that the steep initial cost (even on sale) may not suit everyone.

There are also numerous deals on the Nintendo Switch directly from Nintendo, which can be found right here.
