A Scots mum was left to ‘cry’ after her partner paid nearly a tenner for a coke and sachet of ketchup when Deliveroo forgot their food.
Raging father Fraser Coull ordered a McDonald’s Quarter Pounder meal for his hungry wife for looking after their unwell child on Deliveroo, only to discover the driver had failed to deliver the food on the order. Upon opening the bag, The 40-year-old discovered that only the drink and a single portion of ketchup had been provided.
Understanding there had been a mistake, he contacted Deliveroo support and was told they would only refund £5 of his £12.37 – meaning he had paid over £7 for sauce and juice. The dad, who escalated the matter to a manager, told Glasgow Live: “I had been working all day and my wife hadn’t eaten because our son was unwell.
“I told her to get a bath and I’d get her a McDonalds. When the guy got there it was already late so I just took the bag. When I opened it up I realised that he had only given me the juice and ketchup and the whole meal was missing.
“At that point it was 11pm and my wife just wanted to go to bed and cry. The worst part was that Deliveroo just didn’t seem to take responsibility.”
Upon escalating the issue, Fraser was told that their experience had been ‘duly noted’ and apologised for any ‘disappointment caused’.
He continued: “I was surprised. I think it’s the most expensive coke and sauce I’ve ever ordered. I’m not pleading poverty but it’s still over £12. It puts you off ordering.”
After approaching Deliveroo for comment, the company has offered Fraser a full refund. A spokesperson said: “Our care team has looked into this issue and it has now been resolved. Fraser has been provided with a full refund.”
