As the finale of Big Brother gets underway, fans of the show are urging ITV to ‘get their act together’ in anticipation of the next celebrity edition.
Celebrity Big Brother made a comeback on our screens earlier this year, with twelve well-known personalities cohabiting for a span of 19 days.
Cut off from the outside world, they embarked on an intense social experiment, participating in weekly tasks while under constant surveillance.
The celebrity line-up featured presenter Fern Britton, music mogul Louis Walsh, Coronation Street’s Colson Smith and even Princess of Wales’ uncle Gary Goldsmith. However, it was David Potts, known for his stint as head rep on Ibiza Weekender, who emerged victorious.
Now, with the latest civilian series concluding, fans are speculating about the possibility of another celebrity edition, reports the Mirror.
Initial reports claimed a new series will air in 2025 and once again last for around three weeks.
In a post on the broadcaster’s official social media account, it confirmed that Celebrity Big Brother will return for a new star-studded edition next year.
While no specific dates were mentioned it is believed episodes will begin sometime from April – June. It has been confirmed that the show will broadcast on ITV1, as oppose to the regular series which was only shown on ITV2.
The broadcaster confirmed the 2024 series less than a week before the regular civilian series finished in 2023, so they have left it a little later this time around.
Anticipation is building for what’s expected to be one of the must-see reality series of next year, yet fans already have some clear expectations. Enthusiasts hope that the upcoming series will ditch a few recent additions like the Head of House role and multiple back-door evictions.
Taking to social media, one fan expressed: “For Celebrity Big Brother onwards the producers need to get there [sic] act together on when evictions are. The live stream should be a permanent feature every night not axed on a whim because the show has too many housemates left and needs to evict them before the final.”
Echoing similar sentiments, another viewer mentioned: “I don’t mind this kind of manipulation (Head of House influence) when it comes to celebrity big brother as I don’t take that as seriously as I do civil. But I don’t think that I’ve got another series of ITV Big Brother in me but I hope they sort it out for the fans that come back.”
While the return date of the show remains under wraps, along with any confirmed participants, one rumoured contender is Tommy Fury. After nearly joining I’m A Celebrity only to withdraw last minute, Fury is no stranger to the allure of reality TV, having found love on Love Island and featuring on the Netflix documentary about his family At Home With the Furys.
The rumour mill continues to whirl with fans discussing their dream line-up for the house’s occupants. Among the suggested celebrities are Kaleb Cooper, Danny Dyer, Eamonn Holmes, Joe Locke, and Amelia Dimoldenberg.
Celebrity Big Brother 2024 is streaming on ITVX.
