Davina McCall’s boyfriend has provided an update on her behalf following the TV star’s brain surgery.
Earlier today, Davina announced on Instagram that she was undergoing immediate surgery to remove a 14mm benign brain tumor. In an emotional post, the veteran presenter shared: “I was offered a health scan which I thought I was going to ace, but it turned out I had a benign brain tumor.” She described the condition as “very rare” and asked fans to keep her in their thoughts as she faced the operation.
During her recovery, partner Michael Douglas took over her social media to keep fans updated., reports the Mirror. This evening he reassured followers with a positive update: “An update from me, Michael,” he wrote alongside a text image. His statement read: “Hey all. Davina is out of surgery, and according to the surgeon, it was textbook! She’s currently recovering in ICU as a precaution. As you can imagine, she’s utterly exhausted. Thanks so much for all the love from everyone on here… it’s powerful stuff. We are super grateful. Michael xx.”
The post was met with an outpouring of support. Former X Factor host Kate Thornton commented: “So relieved to hear it went well. Thinking of you all and sending love for the speediest of recoveries x.” Loose Women panelist Katie Piper added, “Good to hear. We are all thinking of you, Davina.” Fans also shared their encouragement, with one writing, “Amazing! The nation is literally rooting for you, Davina!! You’ve got this!”
In an initial post, Michael reassured fans about Davina’s condition, noting that she was in “great shape” but would be “off grid” during her recovery. He wrote: “She is in great shape and in very good hands. I’ll do the odd update from her account here for anyone interested. I’m sure she’ll read all the comments when she’s able to, so feel free to send love. The support of people is amazingly powerful.”
Despite her healthy and active lifestyle, Davina has faced online criticism in the past. Earlier this year, she responded to trolls who labeled her “too skinny” after sharing a fitness video. The Big Brother alum defended herself, saying, “I’m a 5ft 6in woman who weighs 61 kilos. I don’t diet. I exercise. I eat relatively healthily, and I feel absolutely f***ing great. I’m happy with the way I look.”
A fitness enthusiast, Davina released her first workout DVD in 2004 and has since become a prominent figure in health and wellness. In 2019, she launched her Own Your Goals fitness and lifestyle platform, which offers workout routines, live sessions, healthy recipes, and wellbeing advice to help others achieve their fitness goals.
