GK Barry has taken a swipe at I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! bosses after she was initially rejected by the show.
The YouTuber, whose real name is Grace Keeling, says she originally applied to go on the hit ITV show last year. But, after being interviewed by show bosses, wasn’t part of the line-up of celebrities heading to Australia.
The 25-year-old said that she declared “f*** it” and chalked the show off as a “trauma”. However, after being approached this year, decided to head Down Under and into the jungle.
Speaking on her Saving Grace podcast, she said: “I haven’t slept for a month. It’s all haha, heehee until you clock what you’re actually doing. I’ve always wanted to do this show.
“Last year I was interviewed for it and didn’t get it, and I thought I was so upset, and then I was like ‘yeah, it’s fine, because f*** it, that’s trauma that’. So I like put in my head ‘f*** it, I’m doing it now’ and all the things that I’ve told myself are still here.”
In a bid to prepare for the hit show, Grace said her family ordered her some salt and vinegar flavoured crickets and locusts. She says her attempts to eat them however didn’t quite go to plan.
She said: “So I ate them. Ate them is a stretch, I put them in my mouth, cried and swallowed them.”
She also recalled a moment when her footballer girlfriend Ella Rutherford brought a pumpkin home from a local patch, only to discover a worm dropped off it. She added: “A worm must have fallen from the pumpkin and I stepped with my bare feet onto the floor and felt something move underneath me.
“I thought ‘is it the cat’s tail?’ It was a worm, to which I hysterically cried and screamed, and eyelashes’s [Ella’s] mum had to take it out.”
The star went on to confess she hates “animals, flying, and sleeping outside”. I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! will launch at 9pm on ITV One on Sunday.
