A star on the I’m A Celebrity 2024 line-up has insisted she will not attempt to pay homage to Myleene Klass’ viral jungle shower.
In 2006, the Hear’Say singer, 46, created one of the ITV show’s most famous moments when she wore a white bikini while she bathed.
However, Tulisa, 36, who is among the campmates on I’m A Celeb’s ‘best cast ever’, including Coleen Rooney and GK Barry, does not want to ‘draw attention’ to herself.
Describing herself as the ‘mummy of N-Dubz’, she explained: ‘I am wearing black. I am going to pack three plain bikinis, as I don’t want to draw attention to myself.’
While the former X Factor judge has no desire to follow in Myleene’s footsteps, her fellow campmates Melvin Odoom, 44, and Danny Jones, 38, are looking forward to the shower
Roaring with laughter when grilled about the show, Mevin said he hoped he will look as good as his pal, Marvin Humes, who entered the jungle last year and was the sixth star to be eliminated.
He said: ‘I want to look like Marvin did last year when he looked sick in the shower.’
Meanwhile, McFly star Danny said he would ‘100%’ be heading to the famous jungle show, adding: ‘A cool shower in the evening.’
The reaction and airing of I’m A Celebrity’s show scenes have repeatedly come under fire over the years.
Metro columnist and freelance journalist Emmie Harrison-West said she felt ‘uncomfortable’ as cameras ‘panned over’ Myleene’s body nearly 10 years ago.
They said: ‘It felt like every ounce of her privacy was removed from her, with her most intimate moments broadcast to the nation, and it was equally grim to see her sexualised at the time.’
Her sentiments are echoed by Metro columnist Nicola Thorp, who said: ‘A bikini isn’t an invitation for perverts. A bikini is a way to avoid being naked on national telly while maintaining personal hygiene.
‘Our bodies are private, not secret. No one wants to have to shower in their t-shirt and cargo pants, but they shouldn’t be subjected to sexist remarks if they choose to do so in a swimsuit.
Last year, This Morning star Josie Gibson got the fright of her life when catching a glimpse of Farage’s bare bum while showering.
However, former campmate revealed showering in the nude was something they’d all actually been advised against too.
Speaking to The Sun, former jockey Frankie Dettori said: ‘We were told to keep our swimmers on!
‘The shower is miles away from the camp, so we don’t know what’s going on. I am not going to go and spy on Nigel’s butt!’
Myleene auctioned off the original white bikini for charity after appearing on the ITV show and raised £7,500 for charity.
Myleene returned to IAC in 2020, when the show aired from a castle in Wales due to Covid, and spoke about how the white bikini came to be in her posession.
‘I remember one of the show producers looking at my bikinis in the hotel before I went to camp,’ she began on social media.
‘One was covered in stripes, “We’ll have to stop at the shops as that’s probably going to strobe on camera”. I ran into the shop en route to the jungle, asked the shop assistant for the plainest bikini she had.
‘Best $40 I ever spent… especially as it raised so much for charity afterwards,’
