Now one motoring expert revealed how drivers make the same common mistake on a rainy day. So are you guilty of doing this? In a TikTok post, @master_driver666, who boasts 1.2million followers, revealed what to do when driving in the rain.

In the video, she said: “When driving in the rain, many people only turn on the wipers! This only completes the first step.” Next she detailed a number of other steps to follow, as she added: “Second, open the front windshield to defog.

“Third, turn on the front and rear fog lights. Fourth, turn on the rearview mirror defogger function! This will make driving safer in the rain.” It’s crucial to follow these extra steps to ensure you’re driving safe on the roads.

Driving in poor visibility conditions could be dangerous and increase the risk of a crash by a whopping 30% or more. Reduced visibility can be caused by many factors, including rain, snow, sleet, fog and even sun glare.

Motorists must also be wary of driving through dust or smoke, as well as at night. There are many consequences to driving with reduced visibility, firstly you could increase the risk of injury.
