Danny Swanson has accused Scottish Masters ref Des Roache of BOTTLING it after denying Dundee United a clear goal against Celtic.
The Tangerines went into the six-a-aside veterans tournament in Aberdeen with the youngest squad, and kicked off with a six-goal thriller against the Hoops. Swanson was the hat-trick hero, opening the scoring from the spot before curling in another couple of fine finishes.
However, there was controversy when John Rankin appeared to put the Terror’s 3-1 up in the first half after Swanson’s second, and ran off celebrating after his effort crossed the line despite Charlie Mulgrew‘s best efforts. However, officials failed to spot it and waved play on, much to the Hamilton Accies boss’ fury. Ir proved costly in the end for United as the Hoops old boys battled back to rescue a late point.
And hat-trick hero Swanson didn’t miss Roache in his trackside interview post game. “I didn’t think I’d ever see refs absolutely bottle it at the Masters,” he told BBC Scotland. “Some of the decisions there were horrendous.
“The boys did well and I thought we deserved to win the game after going ahead. But a couple of decisions from the ref there, I don’t know what’s happening with him. We were absolutely robbed stinkin’! It’s such a nice event, I thought we’d have VAR. But I enjoyed it, it’s very good.
