Christine McGuinness has opened up about a new romance blossoming in her life, two years post-split from her former spouse Paddy.
The celebrity duo, who were tied in matrimony for over a decade, declared their ‘difficult decision’ to part ways back in July 2021, promising to remain a ‘loving family’.
Despite going separate ways, they have stayed under the same roof, leading individual lives.
Paddy confided earlier this year his contentment with his single status but admitted he also enjoying the dating scene. Meanwhile, Christine has recently disclosed she’s seeing someone new, offering her occasional breaks from ‘mummy’ responsibilities.
In a candid chat with Best magazine, the model shared that she and Paddy keep mum about their romantic escapades except when it pertains to their offspring, stating: “We don’t discuss it an awful lot, as we’re trying to be respectful to each other.”
She met this new person while celebrating her birthday in March, reports the Mirror.
Come June, Christine ventured out on a date at an exclusive London club with her new companion. Fast forward five months, and they are still seeing each other.
She told the publication: “I’m just dating. I’m not ready for a relationship, and that’s something else I felt comfortable saying.”
Paddy, who has also ventured into the dating scene, divulged in April: “I tried a couple of dates last year. After 12 months of adjusting to life on my own, I felt I should give it a try rather than really wanting to. For now, I’m happy being single.”
The former duo are parents to twins Penelope and Leo, aged 10, and six year old Felicity, all of whom are on the autism spectrum. “If someone didn’t know our situation and came to our house and they spent the day with us, they would not have a clue [we were not together],” Paddy explained.
“We get on well, we live together and co-parent. We get the lawyers back and forth but that’s separate – that’s a different thing.”
The ex-partners maintain individual rooms within their expansive home, yet continue to function as a family unit. “If Christine met someone else, I’d be supportive,” Paddy remarked.
He continued: “For now, we’re happy with how things are, living together and helping each other balance work and kids.”
Last year, an insider revealed to Closer magazine: “Paddy’s always said that whatever happens, he’ll never stop loving Christine. And while they’re no longer in a romantic relationship, they are still very close and he just wants what’s best for her.”
According to them, cohabiting “might seem unconventional, but it works for them”.
Christine previously revealed to Closer that she and Paddy spent the previous Christmas together for the sake of their children, saying: “Of course me and Paddy will be spending Christmas together because we still live in the same house. I think we’ve got to move on, but for now, it works for the children.”
She also emphasised their mutual priority: “to be a good mum and dad”.
