The Department of Social Services said if you are currently receiving SNAP benefits then you do not need to apply.
The Department added the following notes:
- Any household can apply except those already receiving SNAP benefits
- If you are over the income limit you will not be approved

The Disaster Gross Income Limit combines the SNAP maximum monthly net income limit, the maximum standard income deduction and the maximum capped shelter expense deduction for the current fiscal year.
To be eligible under the Gross Income Limit, a household’s take-home income and accessible liquid resources during the disaster benefit period, minus disaster expenses as determined by the Sate agency, must not exceed the income limit for its size.
That income limit can be found below.
The Department of Social Services said this was being offered because of the loss associated with Hurricane Helene.
