Paul Pogba is close to reaching an agreement with Juventus to terminate his contract and it’s set to save the Bianconeri a shed load.
The former Manchester United star returned to Juve from Old Trafford in 2022 on a bumper €8million per year contract. But Pogba’s wages were put on hold when the France international was slapped with a four year ban in September last year after he failed a drugs test. His monthly take home dropped to €2000 until recently, when his ban was reduced to 18 months on appeal.
Pogba insisted he was keen to don the black and white once again, but with the financial reality of having to pay the midfielder’s salary in full once again facing the italian giants, a mutual termination was always on the cards and now the Serie A side are close to reaching an agreement with the 31-year-old, that will see him free to find a new club when the transfer window opens in January.
Gazzetta della Sport claim that cancelling Pogba’s deal will save Juve around €30m per year. Tha’s taking into account both his yearly wage and bonuses due to him in the final 12 months of his contract.
He’s been linked with a big money move to Saudi Arabia, which will likely appeal given the length of time he was forced to take a hit in earnings. There is also interest from the English Premier League, Europe and MLS.
