MERCER COUNTY, W.Va. – Work on a mountain coaster in Mercer County is continuing to come along.
The coaster and planned attractions are being called Brush Creek Holl’r. It’s taken more than a year to go from the drawing board into the real world. Right now finishing touches are going full steam ahead.
Frank Edgerly, a spokesperson for the area, says the projected opening is set for Spring 2025.
“Everything is custom made. The coaster itself was made in Germany, shipped here and assembled by the German company. The building itself is being made by an American company and being shipped here to be installed on this pad,” said Edgerly.
The coaster will feature a coal mine theme as the track winds it’s way up and down the hills for nearly two thirds of a mile, 3,400 feet to be precise. It’s a ride the owners hope will work up an appetite and thirst, so there is a restaurant and a tap room planned.
To compliment the coaster. There’s other activities also in the works to appeal to thrill-seekers.
“Rope courses, climbing walls, an arcade, a tap room and maybe a moonshine distillery that is in the works. Then on top of the hill a restaurant for the finer dining let’s say,” said Edgerly.
Once this phase of the project is complete, Edgerly says they also hope to build cabins at the top of the mountain coaster’s run.
“A lake, cabins, there will be about 50 cabins on the back. They’re all with views, nice place for people to come stay, enjoy a weekend. Then all the other activities such as hiking. There will be trails from here to Brush Creek Falls,” said Edgerly.
Edgerly says the motivation behind the mountain coaster was to build something like tourists find in Gatlinburg or Pigeon Forge, Tennessee.
