Two boxing fans watched Mike Tyson’s comeback defeat to Jake Paul from ringside seats which cost $2 million (£1.5m).
The drab fight between 58-year-old Iron Mike and 27-year-old Paul, a YouTuber turned boxer, was met with boos by fans inside the AT&T Stadium at the final bell.
Tyson simply struggled to keep pace with an opponent who was 31 years younger than him and the lack of intensity in the fight angered those inside the stadium, as well as those battled through buffering issues to watch onNetflix.
But those who purchased VIP ringside seats may be the ones who feel the most aggrieved given their cost.
Fans who wanted the VIP treatment had a variety of packages to select from, with seats priced between $5,000 (£3,964) and $20,000 (£15,856).
But for the top package – labelled as the MVP Owner’s Experience – fans needed to fork out a whopping $2m (£1.5m).
The package included six ringside seats, a visit to both Tyson and Paul’s locker room before the fight, an in-ring photo after the contest, plus pairs of autographed gloves.
Also included in the package was a personal car service and a two-night stay at the Loews Arlington Hotel, which is three-minute drive from the stadium.
The plush ringside seats were positioned right next to the ring, although two fans were seen wearing headphones and watching the action on the television screens directly in front of them.
Los Angeles-based injury law firm, TorkLaw, opted to splash out on the top package.
‘TorkLaw has gone beyond traditional fan involvement by purchasing the MVP Owners Experience, allowing them to be at the very heart of this once-in-a-lifetime spectacle,’ said Nakisa Bidarian, co-founder of Most Valuable Promotions.
‘Their choice to engage so intimately with this historic event underscores TorkLaw’s commitment to embodying the spirit of ‘Champions of the People’ by diving into unique and significant cultural moments.
‘We are delighted to welcome TorkLaw into this exclusive experience, celebrating together the passion and drama of this extraordinary match. Thank you to our partners at Elevate for bringing Jake Paul, Mike Tyson and MVP’s vision to innovate the fan experience to fruition.’
