Rebekah Vardy has sparked the feud with Coleen Rooney again as she aired her views in a fresh interview. With the return of I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here!
on the horizon, Jamie Vardy’s other half has taken up the pen as a guest columnist with The Sun.
During her chat with the tabloid, Rebekah exclaimed she’ll be giving the reality TV series her full attention. At 42, Rebekah isn’t shy about throwing new accusations at Coleen Rooney concerning their personal lives and the headline-hitting lawsuit that kicked off half a decade ago.
Touching on the origin of their dispute – the sensational “Wagatha Christie” defamation trial after Coleen publicly alleged that Rebekah leaked private info to the press via a tweet – Rebekah remarked: “It wasn’t in the public’s interest to do that (the tweet).”
She expressed regret over how the situation unfolded, mentioning, “I just wish she’d have just turned up at my doorstep, or picked the phone up and had that conversation with me, woman to woman. But she wanted to do it publicly.”
Back in 2019, Coleen had suspicions about Rebekah handing over stories to The Sun sourced from her private Instagram content. In an attempt to identify the mole, Coleen engineered false tales and adjusted her Instagram settings so only Rebekah could view them, reports the Mirror.
Coleen Rooney was called out by Rebekah Vardy on Twitter, leading to a tweet that quickly went viral. In 2022, Coleen emerged victorious in the libel case against Rebekah, who was then ordered to cover 90 per cent of Rooney’s legal fees, amounting to over £1.8 million.
The judge branded Rebekah as an “untrustworthy witness” for deliberately destroying evidence, including WhatsApp messages.
During an interview, Rebekah made a biting remark about Coleen’s sex life while discussing potential I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!
challenges. When quizzed if eating a camel testicle could be the worst thing Coleen has ever tasted, Rebekah retorted: “I don’t know. You have to look at her husband for that one.”
Rebekah also insinuated that Coleen envied her life, especially after Coleen signed up for I’m a Celebrity, a show Rebekah participated in back in 2017. She commented: “We’ll be watching avidly. Everyone seems to think I have this massive problem with Coleen going into the jungle. But do you know what? If you want to fan the fire, the flames are going to get higher. I wasn’t going to carry on talking about this, I had no intention of talking about it, but she clearly can’t let it go.”
Rebekah accused Coleen of mimicking her career moves, stating: “I mean, we’ve done a book, we’ve done a documentary, we’re going into the jungle. What’s next – Dancing On Ice? She’s following in my footsteps. I think she always wanted my life.”
Rebekah charged Coleen with being ‘calculated’ in her actions.
Speaking to The Sun, Rebekah Vardy made some pointed remarks about Coleen Rooney, suggesting: “Everything Coleen does is quite calculated,” and adding, “I don’t say this to be nasty, I say this because it’s an opinion of mine. She likes to be the victim.”
She continued to share her thoughts on Coleen’s potential strategy for I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!, saying, “She’s been in this industry for a long time, she knows what she’s doing, she knows how to play the game. I think she’ll go into the jungle with a game plan. She knows how the public will perceive her. I think the public see her as a victim – a hard-working woman that’s endured a lot through a man’s infidelities and all of the stuff that he’s put her through.”
Rebekah also touched upon what she perceives as ‘hypocrisy’, stating, “Coleen’s legal team were very dismissive about my reality TV past. They mocked it.”
She then highlighted the irony of Coleen joining I’m a Celeb by saying, “So for her to be doing the jungle now, it’s hypocrisy at its finest, isn’t it? I think there was always a plan for reinvention. She stayed out of the public eye for so long.”
Furthermore, Rebekah has thrown down a challenge to ITV, expressing her wish to join I’m a Celeb and confront Coleen directly. It’s understood that she is considering a “revenge plot” against her WAG adversary and is keen to enter the show as a late addition.
Ahead of the series, Rebekah, 42, stated: “If people really want us to meet up before that, then ITV should get me in that jungle as a special guest. What are they scared of? Confrontation? But isn’t that what the show’s all about? It’S about viewing figures.”
She also mentioned her husband Jamie Vardy’s support amidst their holiday in Dubai, saying: “Everyone thinks Jamie is mad at me for speaking out, but that couldn’t be further from the truth. He’s encouraging me, saying, ‘Give it to her, get the truth out there.’ He loves it that she’s back getting headlines. The more stick he gets from the stands in football, the better he plays.”
The media personality, who has five children with Leicester City forward Jamie, had reportedly offered Coleen a chance to clear the air in 2022. She claims she suggested meeting Coleen, who is married to retired footballer Wayne, for a coffee at Caffè Nero.
Rebekah says the opportunity to talk remains open – but, instead of a hot beverage, “a lot of wine” will now have to be on the table, she insists. The Norwich-born mum of five added: “Two years ago, I suggested we meet for a coffee at Caffè Nero – and that offer still stands. Perhaps now it might need to be over a lot of wine, though.”
