Strictly Come Dancing’s Jamie Borthwick, who is dancing with Michelle Tsiakkas, has been hit with a devastating setback ahead of the series finale.
Each week, one celebrity is sent packing from the competition as the final looms – but who will be crowned with the Glitterball Trophy this year?
Bookies have been updating odds each week on who will triumph in the 2024 series. Chris McCausland, Sarah Hadland, and Tasha Gouri are the three contestants predicted to reach the final.
However, EastEnders star Jamie, who was a favourite to win, may not make it to the grand finale. At present, Chris has odds of 1/5 winning, Sarah is at 1/3, Tasha at 4/5, and Jamie is trailing with odds of 6/4.
Betway spokesperson Mike Reading remarked: “The latest odds to reach this year’s Strictly final make Chris McCausland and Sarah Hadland the strong frontrunners to dance their way into the last three,” reports Wales Online.
“Tasha Ghouri is next in line in the betting, priced up at 4/5 to secure a final spot, but Jamie Borthwick isn’t far behind, and we’ve shortened his odds to 6/4 to make it all the way to the last weekend of the series!”
This weekend, the remaining celebrities will get the chance to perform at the iconic Blackpool Tower – however, one duo will be shown the door.
After ending up in the dance-off last Sunday night, it appears that opera singer Wynne Evans and professional dancer Katya Jones will be exiting this weekend, according to the bookmakers’ latest odds.
Mike shared the latest odds: “We’re at the halfway point of the series and as the couples pack their bags and head up to Blackpool, the latest odds suggest Wynne Evans might be waltzing his way out of the competition this Sunday.”
“Wynne is the odds-on favourite to go this weekend, but he may find a lifeline in Pete Wicks, who comes next in the elimination odds. Pete will need to dazzle the judges with his Cha Cha to I’m Too Sexy by Right Said Fred if he wants to stay in the competition!”
Discussing potential victors, Mike also remarked: “Meanwhile, Chris McCausland and his pro partner Dianne Buswell stole hearts last Saturday with a moving Couple’s Choice routine. With that performance, Chris solidified his position as the odds-on favourite to take home the Glitterball Trophy.”
He further commented on the competition’s dynamics: “Still, Miranda star Sarah Hadland isn’t out of the running just yet-she’s got strong support from punters and will be hoping to close the gap on Chris with her Couple’s Choice routine to Kylie Minogue’s Padam Padam this week.”
Strictly Come Dancing airs on Saturday at 6.45pm on BBC One.
