President-elect Donald Trump has named a woman who served as his 2024 campaign spokeswoman to be White House press secretary, and she will be the youngest ever to fill the role.

Trump announced 27-year-old Karoline Leavitt for the top communications job within his administration on Friday evening.

‘Karoline Leavitt did a phenomenal job as the National Press Secretary on my Historic Campaign, and I am pleased to announce she will serve as White House Press Secretary,’ stated Trump.

‘Karoline is smart, tough, and has proven to be a highly effective communicator. I have the utmost confidence she will excel at the podium, and help deliver our message to the American People as we, Make America Great Again.’

Who is Karoline Leavitt?

Leavitt is a New Hampshire native who has long served as an aide to Trump and worked on Capitol Hill. She served as communications director for Republican Rep Elise Stefanik, who Trump has nominated to be his ambassador to the United Nations.

She earned her bachelor’s degree from Saint Anselm College in politics and communication.

Leavitt ran for a congressional seat in her home state and won the Republican primary, but lost to a Democratic incumbent in the blue state.

During Trump’s first term, Leavitt worked for him as a presidential writer as well as an assistant press secretary under Kayleigh McEnany, 36.

Is Karoline Leavitt the youngest White House press secretary?

Leavitt, a Gen Z will be the youngest White House press secretary in US history.

She will be the youngest since Ron Ziegler served as former President Richard Nixon’s press secretary at age 29 in the 1970s.
