Netflix dropped the second part of Cobra Kai season six on its streaming platform last Friday (November 15), and fans have been eagerly devouring the five episodes, having waited four months since the release of part one.
A significant plot twist in the midseason finale was the demise of a major character following an ultimate showdown.
As the Miyagi-Do dojo heads to Barcelona for the Sekai Takai, tensions are high with everyone at odds as the epic battle commences.
Sam LaRusso (played by Mary Mouser) squares off against Kwon Jae-Sung (portrayed by Brandon H. Lee) before Robby Keene (Tanner Buchanan) steps in to assist her.
Axel Kovacevik (Patrick Luwis) of the Iron Dragons, who harbours feelings for Sam, is incensed by Kwon’s targeting of her and decides to teach him a lesson through a brutal attack, reports the Mirror.
After throwing Kwon to the ground and leaving him humiliated once again, Kwon, not one to back down, rises in fury.
Spotting a knife on the ground, he picks it up, intending to charge at Axel and stab him.
Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio) witnesses the impending disaster from afar but can’t reach them in time. A fight ensues, resulting in Kwon accidentally stabbing himself.
The arena’s combat abruptly ceases as Kwon lies motionless on the ground, a knife protruding from his chest.
Following these intense scenes, fans have taken to Reddit to express their reactions to the action-packed moment.
One viewer remarked: “Happened insanely quick because it would happen exactly like that in real life, Kwon trying to kill someone is ridiculous though.”
Another aficionado of the show weighed in: “Kwon was a total anime villain, from the hair to his crazy ass laugh. He was a straight up psycho trying to use a knife in a fist fight, his arrogance killed him.”
Elsewhere, another individual voiced their discontent: “Kwon’s death kinda frustrates me since it’s a dumb way to die and came across as not well executed.”
Echoing the sentiment was someone who concurred: “It was so quick and strange. He caught himself on the arm holding a knife pointed right at himself.”
Meanwhile, an observer highlighted the absurdity: “He was jumping around like a crazy man trying to fight someone who knocked him flat last time they fought where he was jumping around the exact same way. It was just… weird.”
On a different note, one commentator appreciated the irony: “I like how they made it dumb. Because it really shows how dumb this entire rivalry is and because of it someone died in such a dumb way. It’s all dumb and it’s a reality check for all of them.”
While yet another fan explained the confusion during the scene: “I had to rewind so many times because even with the slow-mo: our eyes were being directed elsewhere.”
“It took me a while to realise Axel was supposed to sweep his leg, as the contact was so minimal especially for the sound it made. Must have been a very hard shot to get.”
Cobra Kai season six part two is now streaming on Netflix. Part three airs on February 13 2025.
