Fire crews have been tackling a blaze at a dog training centre in a Scots town.

Emergency services raced to Cameron Street in Coatbridge earlier today to battle flames. Footage taken by a shocked onlooker shows thick black smoke billowing into the sky.

It is understood that the fire took hold of a dog training centre within the Northburn Industrial Estate. It was first feared the fire was linked to two chemical spills that sparked a major emergency response earlier this month. However, fire chiefs confirmed the incident is not related.

Crews have been out since around 10.30am this morning and are currently still at the scene.

A Scottish Fire and Rescue spokesperson said: “We were called to reports of a fire within a commercial property at 10.34am on Sunday, November 17. Operations Control mobilised three appliances. We are still currently at the scene. There are no reports of any casualties.”

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 10.35am on Sunday, 17 November, 2024, we received a report of a fire at a premises on Cameron Street, Greenhill, Coatbridge.

“Emergency services are in attendance and enquiries are ongoing.”
