ITV’s much-anticipated show welcomed a new set of campmates into the wilderness on Sunday evening. A group of 10 celebrities swapped their plush lifestyles for the rugged Australian bush, arriving in spectacular style.
I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! viewers tuned in to see the famous faces bonding by the fire, where TV star Coleen Rooney opened up about her marriage.
The 38-year-old TV personality, who is married to ex-England football ace Wayne Rooney, was quizzed by her curious campmates about their union.
While sitting with GK Barry, Oti Mabuse, and Jane Moore, the ex-Strictly contestant probed: “And it was love at first sight? ” Coleen candidly revealed that their romance didn’t exactly start that way, reports the Mirror.
She answered: “No it was for him, not for me. He fought to get me, yeah. I waited until I’d done my GCSEs and then I went on a date. I was pretty good at school.”
Coleen also reminisced about her and Wayne’s initial date, which took place at a cinema. She continued: “We had a kiss around the church first!”. Before joining the show, Coleen admitted she had been approached to be part of the cast several times before but shared why she ultimately decided to participate this time.
Coleen shared her thoughts on joining a show, stating: “It has been year after year I have been asked to go on a programme and it’s always been a straight no,” as she explains her past reluctance. “Over the years, there have been different things going on in my life and also, my children have been really young. But they are at an age now where I can go away for this length of time.”
She added that she’s ready for a new venture: “I also feel it’s time to have a challenge for me and do something different. It has taken many, many years but I’m finally doing it. And I have always said if I was going to do one then it would be this show. I think it will be good for me.”
In other news from the first episode, the celebs were immediately put to the test with a race to the camp, which decided the initial leaders of the group.
The hosts, Ant and Dec, clarified that the winning duo would enjoy perks like sleeping in the Leaders’ Lodge and skipping the first Bushtucker trial.
Ultimately, Coronation Street actor Alan Halsall and singer Tulisa Contostavlos emerged as winners, beating out Danny Jones and Barry McGuigan for the leadership spots.
