Two people were found dead on a street in Manchester in the early hours of this morning, with a man arrested on suspicion of double murder.
Police were called to Great Southern Street in Moss Side at around 4am this morning, according to a local resident.
Emergency services tried to help the two people but they were pronounced dead at the scene.
Photos from the scene show a cordon set up, with a forensics tent erected in the residential street.
A neighbour claimed he had not been allowed to leave his house this morning, due to the large police presence outside.
He said: ‘I saw it this morning, about 4am – out of my window, there was a man laying on the floor and another laying further ahead.
‘I woke up to blue lights and sirens – my neighbour has since told me they were the one who called the police.
‘I can’t leave the house at all at the moment, I’m completely blocked off.
‘It’s terrifying – the first time I’ve seen something like this in my entire life.’
Greater Manchester Police said: ‘There is an emergency services presence on Great Southern Street in Moss Side whilst officers respond to an incident.
‘Police have attended and despite the best efforts of emergency services, two people were treated at the scene and have sadly been pronounced dead.
‘We have arrested one man on suspicion of murder. Please avoid the area as there is a large emergency service presence while we establish the full circumstances of the incident this morning.’
