TULARE COUNTY, Calif. (CNN) – A teenage law clerk from California has put her name in the record books by becoming the youngest person to pass the state’s bar exam.

Sophia Park is the youngest person to pass the California bar exam at 17 years and 8 months. She started law school when she was just 13 years old while she simultaneously attended junior high school. She graduated high school two years ago and law school this year.

The record Sophia Park broke was held by none other than her brother, Peter Park, who passed the bar exam last year when he was 17 years and 11 months old.

Sophia Park works for the Tulare County District Attorney’s Office as a law clerk. She is on track to be sworn in as a licensed attorney in March 2025 when she turns 18, according to a press release.

“Sophia’s amazing accomplishments speak for themselves, and we could not be prouder as an office family,” said Tulare County District Attorney Tim Ward in the release.

Once she is licensed, Sophia Park plans to follow in her brother’s footsteps by joining the district attorney’s office as a prosecutor.

“As a prosecutor, I will work to see justice served and ensure that victims’ voices are heard,” she said.
