Good Morning Britain took a brief pause today to deliver breaking news.
Ranvir Singh, the news anchor for today’s episode of the ITV breakfast show, interrupted the programme to share some urgent news. The show this morning was hosted by Susanna Reid and Richard Madeley.
“Homes can expect a mid-winter energy price hike, forecasted to jump by one percent in January. The energy analysts Cornwall Insights said that it expects Ofgem to reveal on Friday that the typical household energy bill will rise to £1736 per year from New Year’s Day. It previously predicted a one percent fall and has blamed supply concerns for a volatile market,” she announced as a breaking news banner flashed across the screen, confirming an expected rise in energy bills come January.
Ranvir then concluded: “That’s it for me now. You are up to date. For more news from where you live, head to the ITV and STV websites and click on your local area. Now, here’s the weather where you are.”
In other news on today’s programme, Good Morning Britain reported on the theft at the Windsor Castle estate. Two masked men climbed over a six-foot fence to steal farm vehicles while Prince William, Kate Middleton, and their children were asleep in their nearby residence, reports the Mirror.
The show also discussed I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here!, which returned to ITV last night. Danny Jones is currently the favourite to win after participating in a new Bushtucker trial. However, things didn’t go as expected when a snake slithered up his shorts and found a cosy spot, leaving hosts Ant McPartlin and Dec Donnelly in fits of laughter.
In their inaugural challenge, the campmates secured five out of 10 stars. GK Barry was emotional upon learning she would face the next trial, having been chosen by the public following her fright during the initial task.
Richard and Susanna also had Jason Derulo in the studio for an interview. They discussed his massive social media following, numbering in the hundreds of millions. He also shared that his young son plays a role in deciding which of his music tracks to release.
Ranvir is helming the news segment today, a role she typically shares with Kate Garraway, Charlotte Hawkins, Sean Fletcher, and others. Susanna and Richard returned to lead the show, a duty they usually perform from Monday to Wednesday.
