Sabrina Carpenter fans were in a frenzy during her LA.. stop of the Short n’ Sweet tour with a very familiar face making a special appearance.
On Sunday, the “Espresso” singer highlighted SNL’s recent spoof of her song “Espresso, “bringing out SNL star Marcello Hernández to reprise his character in the sketch, Domingo. “My name’s Domingo,” Hernandez said from the audience, as the crowd instantly started cheering in recognition.
@corneliastreetsupremacy THIS WAS CRAZY?? 😭😭😭 @Sabrina Carpenter @Team Sabrina #sabrinacarpenter #domingo #espresso #juno #concert #concertvideo #viral #foryou #fyp #shortnsweet #shortnsweettour #forum #la #losangeles #fangirl
“I’m from Miami, baby,” he says while Carpenter responds “Miami? I wish you were from my bedroom. What are you doing later tonight?”
Hernandez broke out in song as the audience loudly sang along in reference to the popular sketch: “Came all this way, had to explain, direct from Domingo. Sabrina’s a friend, she’s like my sis, but I would hook up, though.”
Carpenter then “arrested” him with pink fuzzy handcuffs for being “too hot,” which she does with a different audience member each night of the tour during her song, “Juno.”
The inside joke stems from the moment when SNL’s cast was joined by Ariana Grande to play bridesmaids singing a parody of Carpenter’s hit song “Espresso.” The lyrics recounted the bachelorette trip where it turns out the bride cheated on her husband with a man named Domingo.
Not only did the sketch immediately go viral, but Carpenter reposted to her Instagram stories with the caption “very nice and on pitch” tagging Grande. The “thank u, next” singer reposted the story with the message “tysm we tried.”
Carpenter’s Short n’ Sweet tour kicked off in September and ends Monday with her last show at the Kia Forum in LA.
