Stirling’s generosity was demonstrated once again last week as the city was visited by Pudsey Bear on a fundraising drive for Children in Need.
The annual effort, organised by the Stirling and Bridge of Allan Round Table, saw Pudsey first appear on the summit of Dumyat overlooking the city, capturing the attention of the dog walkers and joggers out and about for the early sunrise.
That ascent was followed by a return to fundraising at Stirling station for the first time since the Covid pandemic, with Pudsey out rattling buckets with a generous reception from commuters.
He also received a mention on the Scotrail social media accounts, which included a snap of the famous bear waving to those at the station.
On a busy Friday, the station visit wasn’t the only outing for Pudsey – who then criss-crossed a total of 11 primaries and nurseries across Stirling – including Riverside, St. Ninians. Cornton, Fallin and Braehead schools, alongside Little Stars Allan’s nurseries.
One of the highlights was at St Ninians Primary, where the CIN bear was able to do a playgroup loop for all of the classes lined up – meaning an exceptionally noisy and enthusiastic welcome.
The final stop was to Blair Drummond Safari Park, where Pudsey once again was introduced to some of the animal inhabitants of the park such as the giraffes and meerkats.
In all, the JustGiving page set up for the 2024 fundraiser has raised more than £700 so far, with hopes this could continue to rise in the coming days.
