Investigators said a man has been charged with murder after allegedly shooting a man to death from his porch.

AUSTIN, Texas — A suspect has been charged with murder after police said he shot and killed a man Nov. 14 in North Austin.

According to the Austin Police Department (APD), 31-year-old William Bruce was arrested and booked into the Travis County Jail on a murder charge.

Police said they arrived around 12:42 a.m. Friday to find a man suffering from a gunshot wound on the ground at the 8400 block of Goldfinch Ln.

Law enforcement said the victim died around 1:01 a.m., and he has since been identified as 32-year-old Travis Holland in the city’s 61st homicide this year.

APD said Bruce was temporarily detained before he was identified and eventually arrested. 

Upon further investigation, crime scene specialists and homicide detectives determined Bruce was on his porch when he shot Holland along the roadway.

Anyone with additional information on the murder could receive a reward of up to $1,000.
