Amanda Holden has confessed her outfit for the Wicked premiere led to an unfortunate wardrobe malfunction.
The 53-year-old star donned a green latex jumpsuit at the red carpet in London on Monday evening. But on her Heart Breakfast show, Amanda revealed it was “squelchy” as she walked.
It left the mum-of-two red-faced as she worked her way through the audiences at the start of the screening. Thankfully for Amanda, she saw the funny side with co-host Jason ‘JK’ King.
JK played squelching sounds on Tuesday’s Heart show, joking: “I don’t think I can sit down” as he played a clip from Wicked’s Defying Gravity.
Amanda replied: “That was me last night in my latex. Oh my gosh, I was poured into that suit last night.
“I had to have, and I can’t use the word of the potion that was put in the suit to make sure I could squish into it. It wasn’t talcum powder, it was a lubricant, and it was squeezed into my outfit and then I was squished, poured into it.
“Then of course, the minute you start getting warm, your own sweat and glow adds to that. So I was in a very squelchy, but warm [outfit], last night, but probably the only one who was dressed for the weather.”
Amanda confessed the suit was a “mess” when she finally arrived home after the show. The mum-of-two attended the Wicked premiere alongside youngest daughter Hollie, 12.
She wasn’t the only Heart star to attend the red carpet in an Emerald City-inspired outfit either. Showbiz reporter and former Pussycat Dolls star Ashley Roberts wore a flowing green dress to The Royal Festival Hall.
Wicked follows the story of green-skinned Elphaba in her origin story before becoming the Wicked Witch of the West from the Wizard of Oz. The cast, which includes Ariana Grande, Cynthia Erivo and Jeff Goldbum, have adopted a similar style of promotion as Margot Robbie did with Barbie, dressing in a way to match their character at events.
The story sees Elphaba and Glinda becoming unlikely friends after clashing as witches in Oz. When Elphaba is wrongly seen as wicked, she seeks to out the Wizard of Oz as a fraud.
