AUSTIN, Texas — Celebrity look-alike contests are all the rage right now, ever since Timothée Chalamet popped up among his own doubles in Manhattan in October. Harry Styles look-alikes have gathered in London, Jeremy Allen White dupes have crowded in Chicago – and that’s not even all of the duplicate demonstrations.
Now, Austin is throwing its cowboy hat into the ring with a Glen Powell look-alike contest on Sunday, Nov. 24.
According to the event’s page on Partiful – complete with bouncing icons of the “Twisters” actor’s face – the contest will take place at 1 p.m. at Auditorium Shores.
“Do you look like Glen Powell? ARE you Glen Powell? Think you’ve got what it takes to look like ATX’s favorite heartthrob? Get crowned as the newest Glen Powell of ATX,” the page reads.
No RSVP is required – participants are simply asked to show up looking like the famous Austin native.
Event organizer Kate Carpenter told KUT the winner will get a “cowboy hat crown” and “some money.”
“Depending on the day and how good we think the Glen Powells look, is how much money is contributed,” Carpenter told KUT.
Who knows? Powell did move back to Austin this year, so he might even pull a Chalamet and crash his own contest.
