There’s nothing more aggravating than reaching for some tin foil only to find the sheet sticking to itself – a common annoyance we’ve all experienced.

Often, tin foil clings stubbornly to the roll, creating tears that continue to unravel in short strips. It’s an irritating problem when you’re simply trying to line a tray with a quick sheet of foil. Some are so exasperated they discard the entire roll and purchase a new one.

For years, people have been trying to solve this issue, until a hack recently went viral, promising to save you both time and potentially thousands of pounds. On Instagram, @robbiebell8, who has 19,400 followers, shared: “This will save you thousands over a lifetime I reckon. Shown to me @shaunhurrell 20 years ago, I’m at least $257 [£204] already.”

In his video clip, he demonstrated how to extract a full sheet of tin foil. He advised tearing off a small piece of foil, scrunching it into a ball, and then rubbing the ball against the side of the roll where it has split.

Rubbing until the smaller pieces detach, leaving a single continuous line, from which you can pull out a complete sheet of tin foil. This straightforward hack has left many astonished.

“The amount of rolls I’ve tossed out in anger,” admitted one user. Another exclaimed: “Omg! I’m not sure how many bloody rolls of foil I’ve thrown away because of this. But now…thank you!”

One person hailed the trick as “genius” while another called it “brilliant”. “Almost want this to happen to my foil again just so I can try this,” another added, eager to test the solution.

“The way I want to go psycho on the last person that left the foil like that in my house,” one person commented. “Wow the amount I’ve thrown out,” another added.

“Wow flabbergasted,” a third chimed in. “Hallelujah, will try this thanks,” another individual expressed.
