I’m A Celebrity star Dean McCullough underwent a hair transplant before he entered the jungle Down Under.
The ITV series features WAG Coleen Rooney, TikTok star GK Barry and the BBC Radio 1 presenter, who has been one of the most talked-about stars from the series so far.
Before entering the Australian jungle, Dean revealed to his followers about his partial hair transplant on his hairline.
In a TikTok video, he showed behind-the-scenes of his treatment, including information about its cost and in-depth before-and-after pictures.
Here, we take a closer look at the radio DJ’s transplant journey.
Dean, aged 33, didn’t have a full hair transplant because he wanted to target his “receding hairline.” Therefore his surgeons only shaved the front of his head before the procedure.
The DJ previously confessed that the seven-hour process was painful “for a wee minute.”
Responding to frequently asked questions on his TikTok account, he said: “The answer is yeah it does [hurt] but it only hurts for a wee minute whilst you’re getting your injections done in the back of the head.”
He continued: “The whole thing took about seven hours and the first bit after the injections took about two and a half hours before we had a break. […] The anticipation, the anxiety, the worry – that was the worst bit for me but they put me at ease and as soon as I was in the chair and I was frozen up, there was no bother.”
Before Dean McCullough’s hair transplant
While the surgery was smooth, the real shock came just days afterwards when Dean’s face swelled up.
The Northern Irish star took to TikTok to joke about his new appearance, saying: “I didn’t realise when you got a hair transplant you get new cheekbones as well. When I was researching this whole situation, there were a lot of people I saw whinging about the swelling but I feel like they’ve missed a trick here. Look at them cheekbones, just look, people would pay good money for them.”
He comically added: “Alright I look like Shrek’s wee cousin and my eyes have never been so far apart but in terms of bone structure, I’d give this a solid 9 out of 10.”
While the swelling was drastic, Dean later shared that it only lasted three days.
After Dean McCullough’s hair transplant
Although he hasn’t revealed the exact price of his transplant, Dean has been transparent about the clinic he went to and has told followers that their prices range from £6,000.
Before entering the I’m A Celeb camp, he posted a video showcasing his five-month post-operation results and confessed he was surprised by the change.
He wrote in the caption of the TikTok video: “I wasn’t expecting this much growth until around Jan/Feb time.”
