Lanarkshire Carers is delighted to have been commended as a best practice employer for leading workplace support of staff members who are carers at the Carer Positive 10th Anniversary Awards.

Celebrating 10 years of the Carer Positive Employers in Scotland scheme; a Scottish Government initiative administered by Carers Scotland, the awards evening welcomed a wide range of employers from private, public and voluntary sector organisations in Scotland to Edinburgh’s City Chambers to award recognition to leading employers across eight award categories.

The Carer Positive 10th Anniversary Award for Best Small or Medium Employer for Overall Carer Support adds to the recognition Lanarkshire Carers has already received for its innovative approach to identifying and supporting carers it employs including the Carers Trust Excellence for Carers Award, Exemplary status for Carer Positive and the Proud Scotland Awards 2023 Small Employer of the year.

Welcoming the award, Barbara McAuley, CEO of Lanarkshire Carers said: “As a member of the Carer Positive scheme since its early implementation,

Lanarkshire Carers were awarded the Exemplary level in March 2023.

“This highest level of Carer Positive award available is presented to employers for their innovative approach to identifying and supporting carers in the workforce.

“The health and wellbeing of staff is extremely important to Lanarkshire Carers. Recognising carers in the workplace and creating a supportive culture that helps balance working and caring has always been a priority for the organisation.

“Receiving an award at the 10th anniversary event was really special to us as an organisation that works with and for carers.”

The group’s chairperson Samar Sheikh added: “Supporting carers is at the heart of everything we do as an organisation and this award is a testament to our aim to be an employer of choice for carers in Lanarkshire and that we are going above and beyond to provide support for our employees.

“The Carer Positive scheme helps us to continue to monitor and improve this area of a work and their guidance is appreciated.

“It was lovely to attend the awards ceremony along with another board member Colin and two staff members. It was an enjoyable evening and being recognised in this way means a lot to us all.”
