Steve Clarke’s son launched an impassioned defence of his Scotland boss dad who keeps “proving p*****” wrong.
Clarke savoured a brilliant away day win against Poland and Warsaw to complete a perfect international break following the victory over Croatia at Hampden Park on Friday. It keeps Scotland in with a chance of staying in Nations League Group A, with a play-off early next year to remain in with the big boys.
The mood of the nation has been lifted after a dismal Euro 2024 showing in Germany in the summer and questions were asked of the 61-year-old due to a run of just one victory in 16 games before that victory over Luka Modric and Co. And the national team gaffer’s son John didn’t miss the chance to stick it to the critics after Andy Robertson’s last-gasp header sealed a 2-1 win in the Polish capital.
In a late night social media post he said: “Scotland still the bollocks. The old man just does not stop proving p***** wrong. It’s hard sometimes reading the opinions of people who just don’t get it.
“Football really isn’t as simple as you think. Tonight shows this Scotland team are fighting to be the best they can. Improving all the time. Are Scotland the best team ever? No they really are the bollocks though.”
And do any who have questioned Clarke’s decision to how loyalty to Norwich City midfielder Kenny McLean, he said: “Kenny McLean has been one of Scotland’s best players throughout the Nations League campaign. Who else can do his role as well as him. Cal Mac (Callum McGregor) is unfortunately no longer an option.”
