WASHINGTON (Gray DC) – President-elect Donald Trump has selected Howard Lutnick to serve as the country’s next commerce secretary.
Lutnick is the CEO of investment firm Cantor Fitzgerald who also co-chairs Trump’s transition team.
In a statement, Trump said Lutnick, “will lead our Tariff and Trade agenda, with additional direct responsibility for the Office of the United States Trade Representative. In his role as Co-Chair of the Trump-Vance Transition Team, Howard has created the most sophisticated process and system to assist us in creating the greatest Administration America has ever seen.”
Lutnick will need to be confirmed by a majority of the Republican-led Senate once Trump takes office next year.
He and former Representative Sean Duffy are the latest picks made by Trump.
Duffy was nominated to be transportation secretary on Monday.
