Five men have been arrested and charged over a reported shooting at a Scots shop.
Following an investigation into the alleged attempted murder of a 52-year-old man in the Govan area of Glasgow, the five suspects were detained.
On Friday, October 25, at around 4pm, the 52-year-old victim was left injured after a reported shooting at the business on Drumoyne Road. The man was rushed to hospital for treatment at the time, with officers saying he was in a stable condition. They later confirmed they were treating the incident as attempted murder, with the attack being believed to be targeted.
On Wednesday, cops confirmed that five men, aged 20, 20, 33, 35 and 41, had been arrested and charged. They are all due to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court this afternoon. During the investigation, officers were looking to trace three men believed to have travelled to the West Dunbartonshire town of Clydebank in a dark-coloured Ford Fiesta.
Police Scotland said the car was found burnt out in a wooded area near the town’s Cochno Road after they had travelled onto the A739 to the Clyde Tunnel and used the A82 Great Western Road and Glasgow Road. Detective Sergeant Laura Roberts said previously: “We believe they walked through the wooded area near Cochno Road and onto Faifley Road.
“The three men were seen shortly after 5pm, walking south on Faifley Road. I am appealing for anyone who was in this area between 4.30pm and 5.30pm on Friday, 25 October, 2024 and saw three men acting suspiciously to contact us. It is also possible that they were in Drumoyne Road and the Faifley area of Clydebank in the days leading up to this incident.
“This area is popular with walkers, runners and dog-walkers. I am asking anyone who was in this area on Friday afternoon to think back and consider if they saw anything unusual. Two of the men were wearing dark clothing and the third was wearing a lighter-blue tracksuit. The were all of medium build and had their hoods up.”
Anyone with CCTV or dashcam from this time is also asked to review it and contact us with anything which may be relevant. Detective Sergeant Roberts added previously: “No matter how small it may seem, the information you hold could be key to our investigation. We believe this was a targeted incident and there is not thought to be any wider risk to the public.
“As well as enquiries, including door-to-door and CCTV work, extra patrols are also being carried out. Anyone with concerns or information can speak to officers, contact Police Scotland via 101 or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, quoting incident number 2466 of Friday, 25 October, 2024.”
