The fire happened at Zapco Meat Market on West Stassney Lane, near South First Street.

AUSTIN, Texas — The Austin Fire Department (AFD) is working to figure out what caused a fire at a meat market on West Stassney Lane, near South First Street.

AFD said the fire at Zapco Meat Market started around 3:30 a.m. Wednesday. When crews arrived, there was black smoke coming out of a front window. When they got inside, they found a spotty fire throughout the shop that had spread into the roof.

Crews were able to control the fire and keep it from spreading to nearby businesses. The store was empty at the time of the fire, and no injuries have been reported.

AFD is still working to determine the cause of the fire. Arson investigators responded to the scene, and other crews remain to check for fire spread.
