The captivating female-led mystery series is on the brink of delivering its third season, and it’ll be here quicker than you might expect.
After a considerable hiatus following the conclusion of the second season on Showtime and Paramount+, fans are eagerly anticipating the return of the enthralling saga.
Fans have caught a glimpse of what’s to come with a mysterious teaser trailer confirming the near arrival of the third season, hinting at perhaps the most intense episodes to date.
Starring illustrious figures such as Christina Ricci and Juliette Lewis, with Elijah Wood joining in season two and now Hilary Swank and Joel McHale boarding for season three, the Yellowjackets will make their triumphal return on February 14th, Valentine’s Day, in 2025.
A tantalizing short teaser was released earlier this week, prompting excitement with the message: “This Valentine’s Day eat your heart out”, reports the Mirror.
Since its explosive debut back in 2022, the show has swiftly cultivated a dedicated fanbase. It regales audiences with the ordeal of a high school girls’ soccer team trapped in the Canadian wilderness due to a plane crash.
Faced with grave extremes to survive 19 months in the mountains, the narrative leaps forward 25 years, where they must confront the demons of their past.
Critics have lauded the series as one of the defining mystery thrillers of the decade, currently boasting an impressive 96 percent approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
Inverse hailed it as the “best cannibal thriller of the decade”, lavishing praise on Yellowjackets and enticing viewers with: “Yellowjackets managed to create a female-led survivor series that kept survival front and centre while weaving in a non-linear story, a massive conspiracy, and supernatural elements.”
Forbes chimed in with admiration, stating: “It’s one of the best female-led shows out there, in large part because it never engages in silly girlboss tropes and treats each of its characters like well-rounded (and deeply flawed) human beings.”
Adding an endearing recommendation, they said: “It’s great. Do yourself a favour and give it a shot,” acknowledging it as one of the top series of 2022.
The Guardian offered high commendations for season two, describing it as “even better than last time” and penned praise for the cast and plot twists: “Juliette Lewis is sublime, Christina Ricci finds her perfect co-star and you’re constantly kept on your toes with parallel timelines and tons of creepy thrills. What a follow-up!” in their glowing five-star review.

Paramount+On the other end of the spectrum, Yellowjackets has won over legions of regular TV-watchers, with a Reddit user exclaiming: “Yellowjackets (2021) was a very pleasant surprise and one of the best horror series I’ve seen the past years.”
