Hard-working members of the Dumfries Devorgilla Rotary Club have opened a Charity Pop – Up Shop in the town’s Loreburne Centre.

Housed in the Dumfriesshire town’s former BrightHouse store, they are keen to welcome bargain-hunters today, tomorrow, and Saturday (November 21-23) from 10am to 4pm, and the proceeds will go to local charities and youth organisations to support their work.

All the pre-loved items on offer have been donated and the shop will be manned entirely by volunteers from Devorgilla Rotary.

This is the fifth year they’ve organised and ran the popular Pop – Up Shop which first started in November 2020 following the Covid pandemic, as a way to encourage shopping locally.

On sale will be electrical goods, bric-a-brac, costume jewellery, pictures and prints, toys, music, board games, TV’s, books, tableware, musical instruments, ornaments, tools, clothes and small items of furniture and more.

Devorgilla Rotary president Bob Carruthers said: “We are really excited to open the shop which is a major fundraiser for charities that the club supports. We are really grateful for the assistance of the Michael O’Hagan of the Loreburne Centre and his staff who make this event so easy to run.

“In previous years an amazing £17,000 has been raised with a range of local charities benefiting from funds raised.

“We are therefore delighted to have been given this opportunity by the Loreburne Centre in a prime location and hope we can support good causes including Freddie’s Sunshine as selected by the Loreburne Centre.”

There will also be a tombola with great prizes on offer every day.
