Prince William is urging wife Kate Middleton to “put herself first” as she returns to royal duties following her cancer treatment, according to a source.
The Princess of Wales has slowly been returning to royal duties after completing her cancer treatment in September. She was diagnosed with cancer earlier this year, and stepped away from public royal duties to recover.
Although the Princess has recently made an appearance at a Remembrance Sunday event and is due to host her annual carol service this Christmas, reports the Mirror US.
Fans are delighted to see Kate in the public eye again, although a source has claimed Prince William is worried for his wife’s health.
“For obvious reasons, he wants this to be put in perspective alongside her own recovery,” they said. “He’s putting his foot down and urging Kate to draft a schedule that puts herself first, no excuses.”
The source continued, “Next year is going to be a very big year, and ideally William would love it if Kate’s able to carry out her engagements as close to normal as possible. But he’s also crystal clear that her health comes first, and he’s let everyone around them know that he doesn’t want her to dive back in too quickly.”
Speaking to Heat World, the source stated that William is worried Kate will “overdo it and put her health at risk,” explaining that she is “still fragile.” They claim his current priority is his wife’s health, and long-term wellbeing.
The source claimed William has given strict instructions to the royal family asides not to overload Kate with work, adding: “He’s urging Kate to stay focused on her steady recovery rather than putting too much on her plate. He just wants to be sure she feels supported without unnecessary pressure.”
This comes after Prince Williams visit to Cape Town earlier this month where he admitted it had been a “brutal” year for his family.
He said that Kate has been “doing really well” after completing her cancer treatment and said she has been “amazing” throughout her health journey.
Speaking ahead of the Earthshot Prize 2024, William stated: “She’s doing really well thanks. And hopefully she is watching tonight. Cheering me on. She’s been amazing this whole this whole year. I know she will be really keen to see tonight be a success.”
William also described this year as “dreadful” and “probably been the hardest year in his life.”
