Three men have appeared in court charged with attempted murder after an incident at a shop in Glasgow. Javaid Akhtar, 52, was injured in the incident at a shop in Govan on Friday, October 25, at around 4pm.
The victim was rushed to hospital for treatment at the time, with officers saying he was in a stable condition. The trio appeared at Glasgow Sheriff Court this afternoon, Wednesday, November 20.
Darren Beaton, 35, Gary Rooney, 32 and Stephen Preston, 20, were charged with assault to severe injury, danger of life, attempted murder and attempting to defeat the ends of justice. All three made no plea and were committed for further examination and remanded in custody.
They are expected to appear in court again in the next eight days. Two men who were also arrested and charged in relation to the incident did not appear in court but the case against them remains under consideration.
