The BBC and Netflix have officially announced that a second season of A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder is in the pipeline.
The first season, which aired on the channel and iPlayer in July and internationally on Netflix in August, was a smash hit.
The series stars Emma Myers as young investigator Pip Fitz-Amobi, whose initial foray into amateur detective work involves unravelling the mystery of a girl who vanished years ago.
Based on Holly Jackson’s popular crime novel series, the second book, Good Girl, Bad Blood, centres around another missing person case.
After solving her first case, Pip plans to take a break from crime-solving with Max Hasting’s (played by Henry Ashton) trial looming, but then key witness Jamie Reynolds vanishes without a trace, reports the Mirror.
Lead actress Myers is set to reprise her role as Pip, and Zain Iqbal will also return as her friend and romantic interest Ravi Singh.
The first season received glowing reviews from critics and viewers when it aired this summer, so the second season is sure to be another gripping mystery.
The New Statesman praised the first season as “deliciously old-fashioned television”, writing: “This BBC series is delightful, knowing, involving, non-challenging, a touch silly. Suspend your disbelief, lie back and enjoy.”
And The Independent likened the series to a “moreish, twisty mystery like Famous Five meets Pretty Little Liars”.
“It’s a combination that shouldn’t really work on paper,” they added. “But will have you hooked all the same.”
Author Jackson, who will co-write the second season, expressed excitement about continuing Pip’s story, saying: “I am BEYOND thrilled that we can continue Pip’s story and, this time, I’m writing on the show!

With Jackson’s series including a third book, As Good As Dead, and a prequel novella, Kill Joy, Pip’s adventures may continue for years to come.
