An I’m A Celebrity contestant reaches breaking point in gruelling trial.
The popular ITV series ‘I’m A Celebrity’ made its anticipated return to the telly on Thursday (November 21), with presenting duo Ant and Dec once again steering the ship. Viewers tuned in to see how the latest group of celebs were faring in the Australian bush.
In the most recent episode, BBC Radio 1’s Dean McCullough was put to the test in the nerve-wracking Bushtucker Trial named Lethal Lab. Upon his arrival at the makeshift jungle lab, the presenters briefed him on what lay ahead.
Dean was tasked with starting off in the experimentation zone, where he had two minutes to complete a task worth two stars. This would be followed by seven different containment areas, offering the chance to secure eight more stars with the final area containing two stars.
Joking about his own expectations, Dean quipped: “I like to overpromise and underdeliver,” aiming for a modest single star. His first challenge involved mixing a green liquid with a clear one to trigger a chemical reaction, all while donning goggles and gloves teeming with green ants, reports the Express.
Despite his apprehension, he remarked: “This is not looking good boys.” Nevertheless, Dean conquered the experiment, bagging two stars before proceeding to the containment zones. However, he wasn’t alone; each area presented him with creatures such as cockroaches, crickets, mealworms, giant lizards, snakes, and spiders.
After securing another two stars, Dean approached containment area five with trepidation, preferring to remain ignorant of what creepy crawlies might join him next. As offal and fish guts cascaded into the compartment, Dean reached his limit and exclaimed: “I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!”
Reacting, Ant and Dec both said: “Let’s stop,” as the trial was halted for Dean to get out. Freed at last, Dean confessed he was content with securing 4 stars for the camp and returned to his celeb mates to share the outcome.
I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! continues nightly at 9pm on ITV1, STV and ITVX
