A man has appeared in court charged with murder following the discovery of a body in a burnt-out home in Annan.
Emergency services were called to a blaze in the town’s Lady Street at around 6.55am on Tuesday, November 19.
Officers from Police Scotland and firefighters arrived at the property and the fire was extinguished.
The body of a 58-year-old man was found inside the home. His family have been made aware.
Gabriel Brown, 33, was arrested following a probe into the death.
Brown, of Dumfries and Galloway, appeared at Dumfries Sheriff Court on Thursday to face a charge of murder. He also faced a charge of wilful fire-raising.
He made no plea during his private hearing, while the case against him was continued for prosecutors to investigate further.
No future court dates have been set, but he is expected to make a second court appearance in connection with the case next week and he was remanded in custody.
