Police have recovered hundreds of thousands of pounds of class A drugs after a raid on a car on a busy Scots road. Officers swooped on the vehicle yesterday evening.
A 33-year-old was arrested following the raid, which took place on the A9. The road is the longest in Scotland and links the Falkirk council area with the Highlands.
Officers stopped and searched the vehicle at around 8.30pm yesterday, Wednesday, November 20, 2024. The force said “cocaine with an estimated street value in excess of £200,000 was recovered”.
The search took place on the A9 near Ralia. Police Scotland said the man was charged and that a report has been sent to the Procurator Fiscal.
No court dates have been set, but the force said he is expected to appear at Inverness Sheriff Court at a later date in connection with the seizure.
At 273 miles long, the A9 is also the fifth-longest A-road in the United Kingdom and passes Bridge of Allan, Perth and Inverness as it goes from the Stirling area to Thurso.
