Scotland’s top restaurants have been named in a prestigious annual guide.
Earlier this week, restaurant specialists OpenTable revealed their Top 100 Restaurants list for 2024. The yearly list includes the best eateries across the UK based on insights and reviews from more than 900,000 customers.
A total of five restaurants across Scotland are included in the UK-wide list. Butchershop, Little SoHo Jordanhill, and Number 16 Restaurant in Glasgow were all recognised, as well as Cafe Boheme in Aberdeen and Mamma Roma Ristorante in Edinburgh.
Butchershop is a New York-style venue located on Glasgow’s Sauchiehall Street, featuring exposed bricks and round booths. It specialises in dry-aged, grass-fed Scottish beef and whisky.
The restaurant is described on the OpenTable website as “combining the hustle and bustle of Manhattan” with “superb Scottish beef, excellent service and a high energy atmosphere”. It is referred to as “the ultimate dining experience”.
Meanwhile, Little SoHo Jordanhill is a family-owned pizzeria and cocktail bar located near the Scotstoun area of the city. As well as handmade stone-baked pizza, it also serves up pasta, mac and cheese, and burgers.
Also in Glasgow, Number 16 Restaurant is a simple and cosy eatery that offers a regularly changing menu. It is known for its unique twist on modern Scottish cooking and “imaginative flavours”.
Over in Edinburgh, Mamma Roma Ristorante is a laid-back dining venue where visitors can enjoy a wide range of Italian dishes. As well as an extensive a la carte menu, it also offers a special ‘pre-theatre menu’ that is available before every performance at the nearby Edinburgh Playhouse.
Finally, Cafe Boheme in Aberdeen is a French-style cafe and restaurant. Visitors can enjoy a variety of brasserie classics and seafood specials in an intimate candlelit setting.
Vice President of International Growth at OpenTable Laure Bornet commented: “We’re seeing a shift in UK dining habits. Brits are breaking away from traditional patterns by embracing earlier dinner times and mid-week dining, which is good news for restaurants as these times can be typically quieter.
“According to new research, these trends are set to continue into 2025 – whether it’s a Wednesday evening tasting menu or an early dinner with colleagues, diners are mixing it up and creating their own dining prime time.”
