AUSTIN, Texas — A man is facing a murder charge after a body was found decomposing at a home near Lake Travis on Friday.
According to the Travis County Sheriff’s Office, deputies received a check welfare call at around 2:20 p.m. on Friday from a person who had not recently heard from an elderly family member, a man in his 80s. The caller said the man was confined to a wheelchair and lived with a caretaker who had ceased contact with the family.
Deputies arrived at the residence in the 16300 block of Lakeshore Drive and found a dead body decomposing.
Deputies located the caretaker, 37-year-old Chad Wayne Christopher, on scene and arrested him. Later that night, he was booked into the Travis County Jail on a murder charge.
The identity of the victim has not yet been revealed.
