Jimmy Thelin refused to play a blame game after Aberdeen lost their unbeaten Premiership record.
The Dons were defeated for the first time in a dozen games when sunk by St Mirren. Thelin’s team were sloppy in the first-half and also lost two avoidable goals in Paisley, the second from a corner. However, the Swede was philosophical and says attention goes straight to Tuesday’s clash with Hibs. He said: “I don’t want to over-analyse because I also know we have done really good things this season.
“I’m not going to feel like everything is bad right now because we lose one game. but, of course, some parts we have to do better in the future and that’s important for us. How we prove our identity on the pitch. The most important thing is what’s happening in the next game and how we learn from this game. I know how good they are, how they train, how many times they have saved us.
“Also the timing of the (St Mirren) header. I don’t want to blame anyone. It’s football and it happens. Sometimes also the opponents are good in some parts and you try to prevent it, but sometimes you can’t. It’s football and sometimes you win and sometimes you lose.”
Asked about his side’s slow start, he continued: “It’s not easy to say exactly why because it’s so many individuals in a team. But also you have an opponent and sometimes they are good.”
Thelin ’s team had to wait an hour longer to get started in Paisley, but he offered no excuses. He said: “You can’t predict all the things that happen with weather. We were aligned, everyone. We want to play the game.
“So in that way, that the game starts, we were happy. But, of course, not the result. It’s a long trip for many people in bad conditions on the roads, but they (Aberdeen fans) were here and they supported us the whole game and after the game.
“Of course you always wanted a good result for them, but you have to regroup and they gave us energy after the game. Now we have to prepare ourselves for the next game against Hibernian. That’s the focus you have to have. It’s a long season, every opponent is good, but you have to focus on yourself.”
