Disney announced upcoming changes to their Hollywood Studios park in Florida on Friday. Here’s what to expect in the future.

FLORIDA, USA — Disney’s Hollywood Studios is set for some major changes with new attractions and experiences coming to the Florida park and visitors in the near future.

The Disney Parks blog announced Friday the park will move the Muppets to make room for some monsters. That’s right, the Monsters, Inc. franchise is making its debut at the park. The news of a change was originally shared at D23 earlier this year, but the Muppets’ future wasn’t mentioned.

The park is expanding with a new Monsters, Inc. land on the south side, featuring a suspended coaster that recreates the iconic door vault scene from the films. The area will also include themed dining, shopping and a new theater show, allowing fans to immerse themselves in the world of Mike, Sulley and other monsters from Monstropolis.

Sunset Boulevard will undergo a transformation at the same time.

As part of the updates, Disney says the Muppets will move from their current location to take over Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster. The new attraction will see the Muppets teaming up with music stars for a “rockin’ music festival,” marking the first time the Muppets have featured prominently in a Disney ride.

The move brings a new era to the popular coaster, which is nearly 30 years old, with new music and plenty of Muppets-themed merchandise for fans.

There’s still time to enjoy Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith and MuppetVision 3D for those who want to experience these attractions one last time before they close. Disney didn’t give a specific final date, or when these changes will begin.

More details will be revealed in the coming year as these plans begin to take shape.
