OVERCOME THE DYSFUNCTION

The Giants have been a sideshow from the moment they returned from their bye week. Players in the locker room are questioning whether the front office is doing what is best for the team to win games. Skipping over Drew Lock for Tommy DeVito sends a bad message that this is not a meritocracy. Daniel Jones requested and was granted his release. It’s going to be a challenge to play the game at any high level. And it wouldn’t be a surprise if some players threw in the towel.

FEED NABERS EARLY

Malik Nabers was asked what qualities he wants in a quarterback. “I mean, I don’t want anything, I just want the ball,” he said. “As long as you can give me the ball, then we good.” But it’s about Brian Daboll getting him the ball, too. Nabers does not have a first quarter catch in the Giants’ last three games. He has only two first quarter targets the past three weeks. And he has just one catch for 13 yards on four first quarter targets in the past four. That has to change.

WIN THE TURNOVER BATTLE

The Giants are -6 in turnover differential, with 14 turnovers and only eight takeaways. The Buccaneers are even, with 12 turnovers and takeaways apiece. The Giants need DeVito not to turn the ball over against Todd Bowles’ aggressive defense, and they need a Shane Bowen defense with one interception all season to finally get the ball. Tough asks.
